Public Law
For more than thirty-five years, Hatch & Parent’s Public
Law Group has represented a diverse group of public agency clients.
Serving as both general and special counsel for cities, counties,
regional agencies and special districts, our public lawyers address
complex issues creatively and efficiently. They are fully
knowledgeable in the broad range of legal issues which face
public agencies, and routinely handle issues pertaining to
water rights,
land use permitting, construction contracting and management,
eminent domain, environmental compliance, utility franchises,
labor and employment and employee relations. They also represent
public agencies before state legislative bodies and administrative
agencies.
Hatch & Parent’s Public Law Group
also has extensive experience in administrative and traditional
mandate, representing
real parties in interest and public agencies in cases involving,
for example, the California Environmental Quality Act, Planning
and Zoning Act, Transportation Development Act, development
impact fees and Subdivision Map Act. Our emphasis on cost-effective
legal services is central to the high level of customer satisfaction
amongst our public agency clients.
The Public Law Group often teams with attorneys
from other practice groups within the firm to best serve a client’s
interests. A number of our public agency attorneys have
advanced degrees
and practical work experience in complementary fields,
such as construction, city planning and architecture, legislative
and
regulatory analysis and advocacy, and several lawyers serve
in Deputy City Attorney and City Attorney positions.
With such an integrated approach to public
law, Hatch & Parent
has distinguished itself among clients looking for both depth
and breadth of experience in this highly specialized area of
legal practice.
